Oak & Pressed Glass Tantalus with Brass Detailing and Key – England, Early 1900’s

This charming early 1900’s oak tantalus features pressed-glass decanters, warm brass detailing, and the original working key. Designed to secure liquor in historic homes, tantalus sets allowed homeowners to lock away spirits from household staff.
Unlike the high-end versions made for aristocratic families—which often featured exotic woods and cut-glass decanters—this example is more modest, but wonderfully character-rich. A delightfully honest piece with gentle wear that adds to its authenticity and appeal.
One decanter has a small chip along the lip, and the handle is missing one brass nut—both consistent with age and prior use.
A unique decorative accent for bar carts, sideboards, or antique barware collections.
