Vintage Oak & Pressed Glass Tantalus with Brass Detailing – England, Early 1900’s

This vintage oak and pressed glass tantalus features classic brass detailing and includes its original working key. Made in England in the early 1900’s, this piece was designed to secure decanters—traditionally used to keep liquor locked away from household staff. While not the high-end version found in aristocratic homes (which featured finer woods and cut crystal), this example remains wonderfully charming and full of character.
The set includes two pressed-glass decanters with stoppers. One decanter has a small chip on the lip of the opening, and the handle is missing one brass nut—both consistent with gentle use and the age of the piece. A beautiful decorative accent for a bar cart, sideboard, study, or antique collection.
